As many of you know Ian is no longer with us. Sales are now being split between my-self and John although it has been mainly John doing it for the last few months. That may continue this way as I develop other areas of the business. John's wife Joan comes in a couple of times a week to help with administration. We are also moving premises, after over 5 years at our current offices we have decided to move to The Sir Arthur Conan Doyle Centre in the West End of Edinburgh. This is a stunning building where a lot of activities take place. If you have not been to the centre yet please either pop in or have a look at their website, I am sure that you will find something that interests you!! Their beautiful and elegant tea room will re- open under the management of Dr Gregorio Torchia. He will use his knowledge about food to prepare a menu that will be both innovative and healthy. Please keep an eye on their website for more news about the opening day.

 

My Products at this Saturday's Steineir School Christmas Market

For all of you who missed my open day last Friday there is another opportunity to purchase my wonderful Spanish oils and delicacies this coming Saturday 22nd of November at the Steiner School Christmas market (60 – 64 Spylaw Road, EH10 5BR from 11am to 4pm). This unique event regularly attracts over a thousand people. Start your Christmas shopping here at stalls selling beautiful hand-crafted gifts, home baking, Spanish fine foods and oils, soaps, wooden toys, Christmas puddings and much more. Join us for activities, stalls and cafes - a real family event. Enjoy storytelling, puppet shows, craft workshops and fairground games.

 
 

New Products

As always when I introduce a new product I look for 3 things i.e. quality, presentation and a competitive price, believe me this is not always easy to achieve however I do travel and visit lots of producers and in the end I usually end up with what I am looking for. For me this year the star product is the new range of gourmet olives. The 2 products that have been very well received and we have already had lots of orders for are the elegant square 250ml gift bottle of Arbequina olive oil Las 7 Encinas and the chocolate coated oranges with rum

 
 

Our Oro De Bailen and Andrew Fairlie at Gleneagles

We have now been supplying Andrew Fairlie our wonderful extra virgin olive oil Oro De Bailen for over 3 years. Andrew Fairlie is the only restaurant/ chef to have been awarded 2 Michelin stars in Scotland.
 

Andrew says: "The world of olive oil is so confusing nowadays, the choice is immense and of course the taste is subjective, between home and work we would use a variety of different oils depending on what we needed from it. Then I discovered Oro de Bailen olive oil a few years ago when a good friend gave me a bottle as a present, as soon as I tasted it I was hooked. I can honestly say it is probably one of the best olive oils I have ever tasted. It is now the only olive oil I use at home and in the restaurant, a few drops onto grilled fish, seasoning a salad, poured over mozzarella, a dip for bread, sprinkling over raw and cooked vegetables, if you haven't tried it yet, you should"
