	The Olive Oil sector in Spain
	Spain is today is the largest producer of virgin olive oil in the world with an average production of 800,000 - 900,000 tons. This is 45.5% of the total world production. It is followed by Italy (21%), Greece (12.8%), Tunisia (3.8%), Morocco (2.8%), Turkey (2.1%), Portugal (1.3%) and Argentina with 0.8% Spain has more than 300 million olive trees which represent 25% of all the world’s olive trees. It is also the world’s biggest exporter of olive oil, with Italy being the biggest importer of Spanish Olive Oil, followed by France , Portugal and the UK .
